FixASB completes its private beta
FixASB has now completed its private beta - an important milestone in the development of the service and an opportunity to thank everyone who has taken the time to test it, use it and tell us what they think.
The purpose of the private beta was simple: to put FixASB in front of real people, understand how they used it and identify where we could make the experience clearer, easier and more useful.
The feedback we received has helped shape a significantly improved version of FixASB.
One of the most important changes has been better support for smaller screens and devices. Anti-social behaviour does not conveniently happen when someone is sitting at a desktop computer, so FixASB needs to work well wherever people are. We have made substantial improvements to the experience on smaller mobile viewports, making it easier to create and update reports on the move.
We have also introduced more choice in how people can tell us what is happening. Alongside the standard reporting process, users can now choose a more conversational, chat-style approach to creating a report.
Users can also provide video footage where this helps demonstrate the nature or impact of a problem, complementing the ability to provide photographs and written information.
Another major area of development has been what happens after the initial report. FixASB is designed to help build a picture of persistent anti-social behaviour over time, rather than treating every report as an isolated event. Automated follow-up now makes it easier for people to tell us whether a problem is continuing, improving or has been resolved, helping keep reports current and useful.
Behind the scenes, we have also redesigned significant parts of the core application, incorporating what we learned during testing and creating a stronger foundation for the service as it grows.
And as FixASB becomes more widely available, we are establishing a presence across the key social networks so that we can share useful information, highlight problems being raised by communities and make it easier for people to discover the service.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the private beta. Your engagement, suggestions and feedback have made FixASB better - and will continue to influence how we develop it from here.
